2022 Holiday Shoebox Drive Coming Soon

Our holiday season Shoebox drive is coming soon! Please check back soon for more information on how you can support women impacted by homelessness right here in our community.

Here's how you can support our local chapter right now:

100% of your donation will go toward purchasing gift cards and essentials for local women impacted by homelessness.

2022 Holiday Drive

2022 marks our first public holiday drivein Charlotte and we have an ambitious goal to serve as many women as possible who are experiencing homelessness in Mecklenburg County – a number that has only grown in recent years. Our aim is to support as many women as we can residing at the shelters of the Salvation Army Center of Hope, Charlotte Rescue Mission Dove’s Nest, Angel House Maternity Home and Roof Above

Timing: This year’s drive will run from October 17 through December 9 and will culminate with a Shoebox Wrapping Event before gifts are delivered to the women of Charlotte.

How can you help?

Individuals, friends, families and colleagues can contribute by hosting a drive, donating a shoebox, donating gift items or donating to support the purchase of supplies and gifts. Listen to our podcast episode with Queen City Podcast Network Do Good CLT or read further for more details.

Donate a shoebox: Fill a standard-sized, decorated shoebox with approximately $50 worth of gifts and essentials that any woman might enjoy, and include a warm greeting or message of support. Drop it off to one of our designated drop-off locations and our volunteers will collect and distribute these gifts to local women’s shelters serving women impacted by homelessness in greater Charlotte.

  1. Green Brothers Juice, 7802a Fairview Rd
  2. Green Brothers Juice, 2230 Park Rd

How to build a shoebox

1. Select your shoebox: All items must fit within a standard-sized shoebox or a decorative memory box (approximately 14”x8”x5”)

2. Fill it with approx. $50 of special somethings any woman would like:

  • Special (Gift card, accessories)
  • Practical (sunscreen, hair ties)
  • Fun (playing cards, journal, coloring book)
  • Sweet (candy, nut-free chocolate)
  • Personal (shampoo/conditioner, body wash)
  • Pretty (lip gloss, nail polish, cosmetic bag)
  • Soothing (sleep mask, lotion)
  • Cozy (socks, scarf, hat, mittens/gloves)
  • Kind (uplifting letter)

3. Wrap your shoebox

  • Wrap the lid and box separately so it can be opened and inspected
  • Line the inside with tissue paper and try not to let the gift wrap tear
  • Skip the ribbons and bows as boxes stack

4. Drop it off by 12/9 to one of the drop-off locations listed above, and tag us on Instagram in a photo of you dropping off your shoebox to be entered into a prize raffle!

5. We'll take care of the rest! Your gift will be collected and delivered to Charlotte area shelters supporting women.

Please do not include:

  • Used goods
  • Unpackaged items
  • Hotel or free samples
