My name is Seymonnia (See-mo-NAY) and Brooklyn is home for me. I was born and raised in Bed-Stuy, so I’m very excited to join The Shoebox Project for Women as the Brooklyn Chapter Coordinator and bring specially curated gifts to women in the borough impacted by homelessness. I’ve spent a few of my earlier college years studying in Atlanta and El Paso, before returning home and completing my degree at Brooklyn College. As the oldest of my parents’ three children, becoming a 1st generation college graduate was an exciting accomplishment for my family. Graduating was the first of many goals for me. I aspire towards continued growth and balance in both my professional and personal life. In addition to being a mom, sister, and newly crowned aunt, I am also an educator. I began my career in education in 2014 as a preschool teacher in Crown Heights, Brooklyn and have since transitioned into teaching in New York City public schools. When I’m not sharing a love of learning in the classroom, I’m typically prioritizing self-care. Traveling and arts & crafts have always been my most valued hobbies. I absolutely love exploring my creativity, experiencing different cities, countries, and cultures!
