An Ardene shopping spree in Montreal and a Shoebox-making party in Toronto: Just two of the many ways we'll be honouring women on March 8th!
Here's our roundup of what's happening on #IWD2016, and how you can get involved...
At The Shoebox Project, we believe that safety, security and housing are rights, not privileges, and that nobody in Canada should be homeless. However, women are particularly vulnerable to poverty and homelessness, and are faced with a range of unique challenges that put them at risk.
This International Women's Day, we're doing what we can to help women experiencing homelessness realize that despite their circumstances, they are valued by their community, and are just as worthy of safety, respect and opportunity as anyone else.
In Montreal: A Shopping-Spree at Ardene!
We've teamed up with the Ardene Foundation, who are generously opening their doors to hundreds of women who are homeless or at risk of homelessness in Montreal.
Ardene Foundation will be hosting this amazing event at their Des Jockeys location (5455 Rue Des Jockeys, Montréal, QC, H4P 2T5). The Ardene Foundation has invited a total of 260 women from 31 shelters who will be given the opportunity to treat themselves with all the clothes, accessories and jewelry that they need from Ardene in celebration of all women everywhere.
“Our involvement in our community is very important to us and we are extremely happy to be able to host this International Women’s Day initiative. We are so proud to be able to invite all these woman to our store and provide them with some key pieces to make them feel beautiful inside and out. This event would not have been possible without the help of The Shoebox Project and Action Réfugiés Montréal. They have lent us a helping hand and allowed the Ardene Foundation to materialize this idea,” - The Members of the Board of Directors-Ardene Foundation.
